Inspired by Company Tradition, Little Rock Location Takes Part in Community
Damon Jones, Little Rock store manager, credits the stores' commitments to their communities and local organizations to the precedent set by Scott Equipment founder Tom Scott.
An Arkansas native, Jones started at Scott in September of 2000 and was promoted to store manager in 2013, said, "Scott's been good to me." And in turn, his Scott location has tried to be good to its community, both in business and in giving. The Little Rock store has been a member of The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) since 2000. The affiliation gives Damon and his colleagues at Scott the opportunity to interface with contractors, building not only business relationships, but relationships with the community they live in.
The relationship proves mutually beneficial. “Scott Equipment and their stores across Arkansas have been phenomenal supporters of the construction industry. It is only through Scott's involvement with AGC Arkansas that we have been able to secure the last two governors of the state as our annual meeting luncheon speakers," said Richard Hedgecock, AGC Arkansas executive vice president. "By working through our organization, not only does Scott get great exposure in front of our general contractor community, they also are put in the appropriate light as a positive corporate contributor. Damon Jones and Scott Equipment are invaluable partners with Arkansas construction professionals."
The location also takes a charitable role in the community. Whether it's donating to a cancer organization while being inspired by a coworker’s battle, being involved with local schools and churches, or organizing walks or toy drives, Jones makes sure they follow Scott Equipment founder Tom Scott's example. "The company encourages us, and as Tom Scott used to always say, 'You can't out give God' and we remember that," said Jones.
