Volvo and Scott Equipment: Expect Results

When SFC Contract Services described the work they needed to complete in Robeline, Louisiana, representatives from Scott Equipment knew heavy machinery from Volvo would get the job done. SFC opted for five pieces of construction equipment from Volvo: two EC250D crawler excavators, an EC240 crawler excavator, all with long reach arms attached, plus two A25F articulating trucks.

Andrew Bain, the Job Superintendent for SFC, says Volvo’s equipment keeps them running at full speed, while saving money in fuel costs. “The fuel consumption of this Volvo equipment is very important to us,” said Bain. “It’s excellent. I’ve been running equipment for several years, and I haven’t seen anything that can compete with Volvo’s fuel consumption. We don’t have as much downtime having to stop and fuel during the day.”

When field service is necessary, Volvo equipment will alert maintenance and repair professionals before there’s a problem at the work site, which means less downtime. “The CareTrack system helps us out because we have mechanics of our own, and they get an email when a service code pops up on a piece of equipment,” according to Bain. “When the mechanic comes to the site, he kind of knows what he needs to bring.”
